Teen injured in golf cart rollover accident

A teenager rolled a golf cart down an eight-foot embankment at The Golf Club at Newcastle at about 6:20 a.m. July 14.

The 17-year-old golf course employee became trapped under the cart, and firefighters and other golf course employees lifted the cart off of the teen, said Lt. Troy Donlin, Bellevue Fire Department spokesman.

The teen was injured and transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition. Donlin did not have information about the extent of the teen’s injuries.

David Valdyka, director of marketing at Oki Golf, said he did not have enough details to comment on the size or weight of the cart that pinned the teen.

Car theft

A man reported his 1996 Lexus ES300 was stolen from his home in the 7000 block of 127th Place Southeast between 11 p.m. June 24 and 6 a.m. June 25. He said his keys were stolen from the entryway of his home, and although he could not prove it, he suspected a tenant at his home stole the car.

Helicopter to measure radiation in Newcastle

Beginning July 11, residents may notice a low-flying helicopter over the city, flying in a winding fashion. The helicopter will measure radiation in the city and across the region, measuring from a height of 300 feet. The helicopter will take measurements through July 28.

The data will serve as a baseline with which to compare data if there is a nuclear incident like the one in Fukushima, Japan.
