Ding dong ditch

Residents reported juveniles dumped a cup full of dog poop on their front doormat and rang the doorbell of a home in the 9200 block of 140th Avenue Southeast on May 27.

No, you lock it up

A residential burglary was reported May 29 in the 8600 block of 138th Place Southeast. There were no signs of forced entry in the incident; the rear door of the home was unlocked.

The wrong slip

A forged prescription was reported May 30 at Newcastle’s Bartell Drugs on Coal Creek Parkway.

Civic swiped

A 1994 black Honda Civic with Washington license plates was reported stolen April 25 in the 6800 block of Coal Creek Parkway.

Overdrawn account

A Newcastle woman reported April 25 that someone had been using checks to draw money out of her checking account. She became aware of the problem when she went into the Newcastle branch of Bank of America and told she was overdrawn.

Burglary

A woman who lives at the Newport Crossing apartments, 7311 Coal Creek Parkway, reported her Pioneer car stereo was stolen from her vehicle, and $230 in cash was taken from her and her roommate from the apartment April 26.

Purse snatched from cart

A woman’s purse was reportedly stolen from her cart while she was waiting for the bus in front of the Safeway next to the handicapped parking stalls in the 6900 block of Coal Creek Parkway on April 4.

Liquor pilferer

A suspicious male who had previously stolen liquor from the Washington State Liquor Store, 6927 Coal Creek Parkway S.E., returned to the store April 6. The subject left without stealing anything before police arrived.

Motorcycle stolen

A man, who moved to Newcastle from Georgia 10 days prior, reported his yellow Honda CBRR motorcycle was missing April 8. The motorcycle was parked in a designated parking stall next to the garage parking at the northwest exit to the Newport Crossing complex at the 7300 block of Coal Creek Parkway.

Garage burgled

A burglary was reported March 1 in the 7500 block of 138th Place Southeast. The resident left the garage door open overnight, and an unknown suspect entered the structure and stole carry-on baggage and two laptop computers from an unlocked car. The estimated loss is more than $2,100.

Home burglarized

More than $10,900 worth of items were reportedly stolen March 1 from a single-family home in the 11600 block of Southeast 89th Street. A lock was broken off and one of the home’s windows was pried open. The suspect took jewelry, laptop computers, gaming equipment, cash and a surround sound system.

Burglary

Nearly $13,000 worth of items including diamond jewelry, a laptop computer and personal items were stolen in a home burglary reported March 1. The suspect entered the home through a rear garage door and left several items of value undisturbed.

Locked and (un)loaded

A Newcastle man reported an unknown suspect pried open his locking mailbox at his home Jan. 20 in the 11400 block of Southeast 87th Street. It is unknown what was stolen.

Home, car burglarized

A home in the 11500 block of Southeast 83rd Street was damaged and burglarized Jan. 23. The front door, doorjamb and roll-down garage door will cost an estimated $1,600 to replace. A passenger window to a vehicle parked in the home’s garage was also damaged and will cost $300 to be replaced.

Student brings drugs to school

An 18-year-old Liberty High School senior with a history of narcotic violations at the school was arrested Jan. 24 after flakes of marijuana and two empty capsules of Adderall were found in his backpack. He was expelled immediately and transported to the King County Jail in Seattle.

Suspicious men reported near home

A woman called police Jan. 24 after she noticed a man in her front yard and another man running out of her backyard. Her husband followed the suspicious men down the street on foot, and neighbors reported seeing the pair running eastbound on Southeast 72nd Street. The woman described the first man as possibly a white male with a thin build wearing a black beanie, a gray hooded sweatshirt and skinny jeans sagging and showing his underwear. The other man is described as possibly white or Hispanic with a regular build wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.

Attempted car theft

A man reported an attempted vehicle theft Jan. 24 in the12600 block of Southeast 73rd Place. The vehicle’s driver’s side door was left ajar and the steering column had been damaged. Total property damage is estimated at $300.

Attempted car theft

A woman reported an attempted vehicle theft Jan. 24 in the 7400 block of Newcastle Golf Club Road. The vehicle’s steering column and window sustained an estimated $500 worth of damage.

Honda Civic recovered in mud

A stolen 1999 Honda Civic was recovered Jan. 25 about 100 yards west of the trailhead in the 7800 block of 129th Avenue Southeast. The car was stuck in deep mud, unlocked with the sunroof and passenger window open.

Purse stolen at ball field

A woman reported her black leather purse had been stolen out of her van parked in the 6900 block of 116th Avenue Southeast near the Renton Academy’s baseball field. She left the van for about 10 minutes and when she came back to check on it, the window to her vehicle was shattered.

Girl expelled for glass pipe

A Liberty High School student was expelled immediately and released to her father after she brought a glass marijuana pipe to the school Jan. 26.

Got a light?

Three 2-foot-tall copper dome lights were stolen from a home Jan. 26 in the 14700 block of Southeast 83rd Place. The estimated loss is $690.

Items stolen from home

A Tiffany wedding ring, two laptops and an iPad were reported stolen in a home burglary Jan. 27 in the 7600 block of 120th Avenue Southeast. The front door to the home had been kicked in and about $4,900 worth of property was stolen.

Lights out

Three silver landscaping lights were reportedly stolen sometime between Jan. 27 and 28 from a home located in the 1500 block of Southeast 80th Street. The property was worth about $350.

Civics swiped

A 1997 green Honda Civic with a turtle sticker in the lower left corner of the windshield was stolen Jan. 28. The car was parked in the 7800 block of 155th Avenue Southeast. A blue Honda Civic parked in the 13300 block of Southeast 79th Place was also reported stolen that day.

Electronics, jewelry stolen

Three laptops, a Kindle Fire and assorted jewelry were reported stolen Jan. 29 from a rented home in the 8400 block of 120th Place Southeast. There was an estimated property loss of about $3,800.

DVD player stolen

A 10-inch portable DVD player was reported stolen Jan. 29 from a vehicle parked in the 7300 block of Coal Creek Parkway. The suspect broke the driver’s side rear window causing $300 worth of damage.

Back off my bags

A woman reported several expensive purses and cash had been stolen from her Subaru Jan. 29 in the 7900 block of 110th Avenue Southeast after a suspect smashed a passenger window. The estimated loss from the incident is $990.

Thief takes laptop, cash from home

A laptop and $600 cash were among the items reported missing after a home in the 11800 block of Southeast 88th Street was burglarized Jan. 30. The suspect threw a landscaping brick through a sliding glass door to gain access to the home. The total loss in the incident is estimated at more than $2,500.

Juvenile expelled for pot

A 14-year-old Maywood Middle School student was expelled immediately from school and released to his mother Feb. 3 after a black plastic container containing marijuana, a digital scale, tobacco cigars and a plastic baggy were found in his backpack. The student is on a King County Youth Center Diversion for another marijuana violation that also occurred at the school. The incident was forwarded to the King County Youth Center Prosecutor for further investigation and charges.

Laptop stolen from car

A $1,000 black Hewlett Packard laptop was stolen from a vehicle sometime between Jan. 27 and 29 while it was parked at the Newport Crossing Apartments, 7311 Coal Creek Parkway. The suspect smashed out a passenger window causing $600 worth of damage.

Video player jacked from car

A man reported his Kenwood touch-screen car video player had been stolen from his vehicle sometime between Jan. 29 and 30 in the 7900 block of 110th Avenue Southeast. The vehicle was locked and the driver’s side window had been shattered to gain access. The total property loss and damage is estimated at more than $1,400.

Coin, jewelry swiped in burglary

A woman reported an $1,800 Canadian gold coin and assorted jewelry were stolen after a suspect burglarized her home in the 11500 block of Southeast 85th Street on Feb. 2. The suspect damaged the front door to gain access to the home.

Burn, baby, burn

About $200 worth of damage was caused after a Seattle Times newspaper was thrown through the window of a home Feb. 5 in the 8400 block of 116th Avenue Southeast. Nearby, at a home in the 8600 block of 116th Avenue Southeast, a small pile of smoldering newspapers was discovered. A small plastic bag of what appeared to be marijuana was also found at the scene.

Jewelry taken from home

More than $8,600 worth of jewelry and watches was stolen Feb. 7 from a home in the 7800 block of 136th Avenue Southeast. Personal documents such as a passport and Social Security card were also taken from the home.

Apartment ransacked

About $5,650 worth of property was missing and property damage was reported Feb. 7 at a home in the 7300 block of Coal Creek Parkway at the Newport Crossing Apartments. A television, laptop computer and diamond bracelet were missing and a filing cabinet was damaged during the incident.

Items stolen in home burglary

A home in the 1400 block of Southeast 88th Street was burglarized Feb. 8 after the suspect shattered the front glass window to the home. A gold watch, old coins and other items were reportedly stolen. The property loss and damage was estimated at $700.

Pretty pilferer

A 17-year-old Newcastle girl was arrested at the Bartell Drugs store, 6939 Coal Creek Parkway S.E., for shoplifting. The girl attempted to steal hair coloring and various makeup products.

Locked out? Locked up.

A 23-year-old Newport woman was arrested for theft Feb. 11 after she did not provide payment for locksmith services she requested after being locked out of her apartment in the 7300 block of Newcastle Way. The woman was going through the eviction process and provided what she claimed to be a debit card that was later determined to be unusable.

Bags packed, sacked

A woman reported Dec. 11 that her 2004 Toyota Matrix was broken into and about $375 worth of personal items in a blue cloth suitcase were stolen. The damage to the woman’s driver’s side window is estimated at $375.

A Bellevue woman was transported to a hospital for detoxification after she consumed alcohol and a disturbance was reported Dec. 14 at the Coal Creek Apartments, 6802 Coal Creek Parkway S.E. The woman was asked to leave the apartment but had no way to transport herself back to a Bellevue clean-and-sober house, where she lives. The woman was not cooperative with police, began speaking in other languages and sticking out her tongue at officers.

 

Move and lose

A Newcastle man reported his laptop and other personal items, including his passport and Boeing Co. identification, were stolen between Dec. 16 and 18 while he was moving into a new residence in the 13800 block of Southeast 79th Drive. The loss is estimated at more than $1,300.

No! You say sorry!

A police officer was dispatched Nov. 17 to the area of Southeast 86th Street and 139th Avenue Southeast when a man reported he was pushed after he tailgated another Newcastle resident’s car. He said he realized he was tailgating the vehicle so he slowed down but while at a stop sign, the reporting party got out of his car to ask the other driver which way he was going to turn, at which point the other driver got out of his car and pushed him. After the reporting party followed the other driver home, the officer determined the reporting party was the aggressor in the incident. The other driver did not want to speak to the reporting party or offer an apology.

Car break-in

A passenger window was broken out of a Hyundai Tiburon on Nov. 17 and an iPod valued at $100 was stolen during a car break-in in the 6900 block of 115th Place Southeast. About $300 worth of damage was reported.

Electronics stolen

A residential burglary was reported Nov. 17 in the 12100 block of Southeast 73rd Place. A bedroom window was broken out and several items totaling more than $1,300 were taken, including a digital camera, a Playstation 3 and a Samsung HD TV.

Rock smashes home window

A woman living in the 12500 block of Southeast 70th Street reported a rock had been thrown through a large window of her living room after she left her home for about 45 minutes to go shopping. The Oct. 12 incident caused $400 worth of damage and is thought to be an attempted burglary. Nothing was stolen from the home.

Car stolen from apartment complex

A Newcastle man reported his 2000 green Acura Integra was stolen from his apartment Oct. 14. The man told police his car had been broken into about a month prior, and it appeared the suspect had tried to steal the vehicle then but was unsuccessful.

Burglary

About $3,650 worth of electronic items was stolen from a man’s home Sept. 22 in the 12200 block of Southeast 74th Street. The items included a Kodak camera, an iPad2 and two laptop computers.

 

Inappropriate advances

On Sept. 22, a woman working in the floral department of the Coal Creek Parkway Safeway reported a semi-regular customer asked her to go out to his car. After they talked for a while and he asked her for her phone number several times, he eventually tried to place her hand on his groin area. She called police. He was later contacted by police at his Bellevue home and said the two of them were just flirting together. The woman said she did not want to pursue prosecution because she was transferring to another store soon.

Car stolen

A man reported his 1991 red Volkswagen Golf was stolen from his driveway in the 12100 block of Southeast 75 Place on Aug. 26. The theft was believed to have occurred at about 4:15 a.m., and the car was worth about $1,500.

 

Assault arrest

A 35-year-old woman was arrested for fourth-degree assault Aug. 29 at her Coal Creek Parkway apartment after she reportedly bit and hit her male roommate. The incident was reported at about 12:30 a.m.
