Select baseball team hosts tryouts

Select baseball club the Bellevue Warriors, founded in Newcastle and consisting of many local players, is hosting a tryout from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Rijo Athletics, 22620 state Route 9 S.E., Woodinville.

The club originally started last year with just a 12-and-under team, but it expanded to include a 13-and-under team.

Bring a completed registration form to the tryout. Get a registration form by e-mailing the team’s coaches at warriors12ubaseball@hotmail.com.

Resident passes the fool test

A woman reported that she got a suspicious phone call at her home, in the 7300 block of 125th Place Southeast, from a Renton-based phone number shortly after 11:30 a.m. July 15. The caller — a woman with a thick, East Indian accent who sounded like she was in her 20s — said she was from the reporting woman’s phone company, and she said she needed the reporting woman’s address, birthday and mother’s maiden name to send her “a gift.” The reporting woman hung up the phone without giving any information.
