Newcastle-based Cub Scout Pack 738 will host a recruitment event at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at Newcastle Elementary School’s multipurpose room.

Boys from first to fifth grade can join the pack, and many of the boys from the pack will attend to talk about their experiences as members. Parents from the pack will attend to answer parents’ questions and give details about the various aspects of the pack.

If you wish to join the pack, but cannot attend the meeting, call pack Chairman Doug Chappelle at 206-719-3351.

Pack 738 has about 35 Scouts, and each year it holds a variety of events, including the Pinewood Derby in January and a snow-tubing function at Snoqualmie Pass each winter.

After elementary school, members of the pack feed into Newcastle-based Boy Scout Troop 499 and Renton-based Troop 498.

Pack 738 next meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at Newcastle Elementary for the Rain Gutter Regatta, at which members of the pack will race boats made out of juice boxes through gutters filled with water.
