The City Council has not reached a decision as to whom it will hire as its next city manager.

Interviews took place this morning at The Golf Club at Newcastle, and the Council cancelled its public meeting scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today, which it could have used to announce its decision.

An executive session is tentatively scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31 to continue deliberation. All four final candidates are still being considered, and recruiter Greg Prothman said he is not concerned that candidates may drop out of contention during the next two weeks.

The council will meet with Prothman and none of the candidates at the next executive session.

The final city manager candidates are interim City Manager Rob Wyman; former Lakeport, Calif., City Manager Garold (Jerry) Gillham; former Gig Harbor City Administrator Mark Hoppen; and former Sheridan, Ore., City Manager Michael Sauerwein.
