The Bellevue Warriors — a select baseball team formerly known as Warriors 12U — still have two openings on their roster, team co-founder and Newcastle resident Michael Stein said.

The team has 12 players on its roster, and Stein’s son, Jake, is a member of the team.

The team’s schedule in January and February includes three training sessions per week, plus one-on-one coaching for any interested players. The Warriors’ coaching staff is also working with other select teams in Western Washington to schedule scrimmages as weather permits, Stein said.

Conditioning sessions will be held at Lake Heights YMCA, located at 12635 S.E. 56th St. in Bellevue, and baseball skills practices will be held at Stods Baseball, located at 5629 119th Ave. S.E. in Bellevue, and The Old Ballyard  in Bellevue. The team will play a 50-60 games schedule this year, with 20-25 games played against teams in the Bellevue PONY League. The other games will be played in tournaments, Stein said.

The Warriors’ first tournament will be the Triple Crown Spring Championships, March 17-21 in Tempe, Ariz.

Honda Auto Center of Bellevue will sponsor the team for the next three years.

Call Stein at 425-223-7000 or e-mail him at for information regarding how to join the team.
