Issaquah School Board hires new superintendent

It’s been a little more than a month since the Issaquah School District found out it needed to go shopping for a new superintendent but it’s already found one: Ron Thiele.
The school board unanimously voted Feb. 13 to hire the district’s associate superintendent to succeed outgoing superintendent Steve Rasmussen when he retires June 30.
“Thank you very much. That was a little bit strange and surreal for me,” said Thiele. He had been sitting in the school board meeting, he later explained, wondering if his job application was about to be publicly rejected or accepted. “I am truly humbled by an amazing opportunity that you are providing me with and the confidence you are showing in me, and I am really appreciative.” Read more
Chamber, HomeStreet Bank search for the best cookie recipe

Newcastle HomeStreet Bank and the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce are looking for the city’s best cookie recipe.
Newcastle residents, or chamber members, are invited to submit their finest cookie recipes for a chance to win a $50 savings account at HomeStreet Bank or a gift certificate for a one night stay at The Old Hen Bed-and-Breakfast in North Bend.
Two winning recipes will be announced and served at an after-hours social event at 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at HomeStreet Bank, 6949 Coal Creek Parkway S.E.
Food blogger and award winning bed-and-breakfast owner Deanna Morauski will bake the winning cookies and share recipes and photos on her website. Read more
