Renton Technical College hosts Bridge Builders Breakfast

The Renton Technical College Foundation will host its Bridge Builders Breakfast Oct. 30.
The annual benefit supports general foundation scholarships, merit scholarships to local high schools and the Bridge Project, a program that assists low-income basic studies students who are transitioning to workforce programs.
Television personality Pat Cashman will serve as the emcee. Keith Loeber, an academic director with Microsoft Learning, will deliver the employer message. Graduate Brian Doran will deliver the alumni keynote address.
Tickets are $25 and are available for purchase at www.rtc.edu/foundation/events. Opportunities for sponsorships are also available, call 235-7867 for more information.
The breakfast goes from 7:30-9 a.m. in the Renton Technical College cafeteria.
Public can comment on I-90 tolling proposal

The state Department of Transportation will conduct an additional comment period from Oct. 7 to Nov. 6 to gather input on the proposal to toll Interstate 90 and the range of alternatives.
The agency will hold three public meetings during the comment period.
The first meeting is from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Bellevue College, 3000 Landerholm Circle S.E.
The next is at Mercer Island High School, 9100 S.E. 42nd St., from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 21.
The third and final meeting will be in Seattle at the Northwest African American Museum, 2300 S. Massachusetts St., from 4-7 p.m. Oct. 23.

City Council candidate meet and greet set for Tuesday

Newcastle residents will have the opportunity to interact with current and future City Council members at an informal meet and greet Oct. 8.
John Drescher and Mark Greene will compete to fill the seat that will be vacated by retiring City Councilman Bill Erxleben. Incumbents John Dulcich and Rich Crispo will both run unopposed to retain their positions. All are expected to be in attendance at the event.
There is no formal program for the no-host event held at The Golf Club at Newcastle’s Wooly Toad Lounge. The event goes from 5:30-8 p.m.
