Lane closures coming in September
The city began work today to repave a segment of Coal Creek Parkway between Newcastle Way and Southeast 84th Way. The work is expected to continue until Oct. 4.
During construction, one northbound lane and one southbound lane will remain open at all times. One-lane closures are scheduled to occur from Sept. 9 through Sept. 21, weather permitting.
The city announced in October 2012 that a portion of Coal Creek Parkway between Newcastle Way and Southeast 84th Way was showing signs of “premature failure,” and needed repairs.
A grant from the state’s Transportation Improvement Board will fund roughly half of the street’s repairs.
The city asks that residents drive carefully through the construction zone and use alternate routes, if possible.

I hope a traffic quieting topping will be used. I noticed that Bellevue has a stretch of I 405 with such a coating. Does anyone know about this?
