Amnesty period for unlicensed pets ends soon

Residents in Newcastle and 26 other cities, plus unincorporated King County, have 15 days before the amnesty period on unlicensed pets expires.
The countywide no-tolerance policy for unlicensed pets goes into effect Oct. 2. Outlaw owners face $125 fines for unlicensed spayed or neutered pets, and up to $250 for unaltered animals.

Suspicious man arrested in China Creek

Police arrested a man in China Creek around 3:45 p.m. Sept. 13 after a resident called to report three suspicious people in the 8300 block of 147th Avenue Southeast.
Residents saw the group knock on a home’s front door, and then enter the back yard after there was no answer, Police Chief Melinda Irvine said.
Apple Physical Therapy holds coat drive through Friday

Apple Physical Therapy, which has a location at 6985 Coal Creek Parkway in Newcastle, will hold a coat drive through Friday at each of its 22 locations. It will accept new and “gently used” coats, which it will donate to the Puyallup Valley and Thurston County Salvation Army chapters.

Construction equipment theft
A man reported that a diesel air compressor utility trailer worth $15,000 and a jackhammer worth $3,000 were stolen from a construction site in the 12900 block of Southeast 89th Place between Aug. 26 and 28. The gate to the worksite has been pushed down. Part of the compressor trailer was later found in the 9200 block of state Route 900.
