Mariners stars to appear at DJ’s Sportscards

Seattle Mariners’ center fielder Franklin Gutierrez and former Mariner Julio Cruz will sign autographs at DJ’s Sportscards in Renton from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday.
Gutierrez has played in 129 games this season, batting an average of .285 with 15 home runs and 57 RBI. His will charge $15 for his autograph.
Cruz played for the Mariners from 1977 to 1983. In his career, he played in 1,156 games and had 916 hits. He will not charge for his autograph.

Identity theft ring-leader pleads guilty, to be sentenced

Gabriel Jang, 36, of Renton, has changed his plea for his role in an identity theft ring that brought in more than $3 million during a seven-year period.
Jang, arrested Nov. 20, 2008, operated from a Newcastle post office box.
He faced 21 charges, including wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, and in January he pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
Help the homeless at China Creek garage sale Saturday

China Creek is hosting a communitywide garage sale from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sept. 12.
Residents can donate items to the sale at 14220 S.E. 79th Drive, across from China Creek Park.
All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Center to feed the homeless.
