Bring your documents for shredding Saturday

HomeStreet Bank, the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and the city of Newcastle are hosting this year’s Shred-A-Thon.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday in front of the bank at 6949 Coal Creek Parkway S.E. Documents will be shredded for free.
The bank hosted a similar event last year.
City awards contract for bus stop project

The City Council has awarded the construction contract for the bus stop project to Marshbank Construction Co., of Lake Stevens.
Marshbank was the low bidder on the project at just over $2.1 million. The bid is about $600,000 lower than the engineer’s estimate. Marshbank is also working on the Coal Creek Parkway project.
