Newcastle resident serves double duty for ‘The Marriage of Figaro’

Nancy Horner, of Newcastle, not only sings in the chorus of Lyric Opera Northwest’s upcoming performance of “The Marriage of Figaro,” she’s also the principal costume designer.

Last year, Horner, a mezzo-soprano, was the costume designer for Lyric Opera Northwest’s production of “Hansel and Gretel.”

Other recent costume design works include the world premier of “The World Below,” as well as “Once Upon a Time in New Jersey” and “Willy Wonka” for Village Theatre’s KIDSTAGE. Horner has also provided costumes for Hazelwood Elementary School’s annual school plays.

She has already begun creating costumes for this year’s production of “Beauty and the Beast” that will be performed at the Ikea Performing Arts Center in March.

“The Marriage of Figaro” opens at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 and runS through Jan. 17 at the Meydenbauer Theatre in Bellevue.

Ticket prices for evening performances are $38 for general admission, $34 for seniors and $30 for students. Tickets may be ordered online.
