Nearly 20 Liberty High School students got their chance to audition for the famous MTV program “Made” Sept. 18, when it came to the school to shoot preliminary interviews.MTV representatives approached Liberty administrators this past spring about holding auditions, said Principal Mike Deletis.

“I thought, wow! That would be a fun thing to do at the start of school in September to start a buzz,” he said.

Every type and grade-level of student lined up to audition, including a self-proclaimed nerd who wants to join a Cirque de Soleil show and a male fashion icon who wants to be made into a swimmer.

Even though he’s only tried to mix once, junior Jake Phillips said he wants to be made into a professional disc jockey who’d mix and create top hits.

“I think it would be cool and it looks really well put together,” Phillips said of being on the show.

The auditions are taped and sent back to producers who will review them and make second-round interview selections.

“We aren’t just about academics here,” Deletis said. We’re about experiences, too.”
