<p>Newcastle City Clerk Bob Baker is taking over as president of the Washington Municipal Clerks Association. </p>
<p>He&#8217;ll be officially sworn in during the group&#8217;s annual meeting this week in Ocean Shores. Baker will serve a one-year term as president. At the end of the term, he will serve an additional year in the office of past president.</p>

<p><span id="more-1039"></span>Baker joined the city as its city clerk in January 2006. Since then, the clerk&#8217;s office has started offering live streaming audio of all City Council meetings on the Internet, as well as online accessibility to minutes, agendas, resolutions and ordinances. Baker is also a notary public.</p>
<p>Founded in 1970, the WMCA is a nonprofit association that promotes the professional and education standards of municipal clerks, county clerks, and transit board clerks in various local governments of the state.</p>
