I was pretty disappointed to read about this huge development planned for the tiny piece of land. There will have to be a new traffic light installed, or at least a stop sign, for this new complex. There is a lot of traffic on Newcastle Road in the morning and evening commute, and the construction will deal a heavy blow to the two lane road, possibly blocking a lane for a time, causing huge traffic backups for buses and cars for months. I think the city should reconsider this large housing development. Or widen the road to 4 lanes. Sometimes I think the city of Newcastle is just out for a quick buck. Next thing we know there will be a Walgreens built in place of our beloved Newcastle Fruit and Produce (I have heard Walgreens has been courting the city for that parcel for years). If that happens, all bets are off, and we become an extension of Renton and lose any character we ever had. Newcastle might as well just get it over with and incorporate in to Renton. We already have the zip code...

Thanks for publishing this article. I've been a homeowner in this area for 25 years and I didnt know anything about it.. Someone would have to be blind to not see the impact of whats being proposed on the area.. To sneak a residential project in into a commerically zoned area with the justification that its allowed under current zoning really shows how ridiculous the current zoning laws are.. I very much hope that are elected city officials are going to see the huge negative impact of this.. I'll definitely be watching any future votes on this project.. Thanks for the information.

Sincerely, Jeff Kluth
