Another new park for Lake Boren, I believe this is the third one. How did the City come to the agreement to use 335,000 from the state for a New Park again?
I would think the money could be put to better use.

Everybody complains about taxes, but oh, such excitement for $325,000.00 for playground equipment in Boren park. What about schools, what about healthy children, what about healthy seniors? If half the cities in this state are as lucky as Newcastle, how much money is that? Do you think the money comes from outer space? That is money not spent on, dare I say, more important social issues! The city should refuse to accept that money for that purpose and find a better use for the grant! And if it is use it or lose it, donate it to the general fund.

I can't agree more with Linda, above. I have no kids by choice, yet I pay taxes for schools and parks and have no place to take my dog to enjoy off-leash time, save for a smelly, tiny dog corral off 148th that I have to drive to get to.

$325,000 for playground equipment? You have got to be kidding! Maybe they could use some of those funds to build a fenced area and extend the park improvements to include an off-leash dog area instead of having the police dole out $250 fines to dog owners that want to romp and play with their dogs.
