New York’s World’s Fair model unveiled in Seattle
December 2, 2010
After 49 years packed away in a Long Island garage, the World’s Fair Preservation Society unveiled a scale model of the 1964 New York World’s Fair at the Seattle Museum of the Mysteries in July.
“The reason I started this was to have a museum dedicated to preserving and introducing people to the rich history of world’s fairs,” said society founder Randy Richter, a Newcastle resident, at his retail shipping store in the Newport Hills area of Bellevue.
Just as society members say the model represents a grander dream to build an entire museum dedicated to World’s Fair history, Richter said, “World’s fairs look toward what’s to come and give people a hope for the future.”
