The Driftwood Players in Edmonds will produce Newcastle-based writer Elena Hartwell’s original play, “A Strange Disappearance of Bees,” this weekend. Shows start at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday at Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St. in Edmonds. Tickets are $12.
The play tells the story of a half-Vietnamese boy whose father — a veteran of the Vietnam War — recently passed away. The boy arrives at his father’s bakery with questions about his past, and he meets a beekeeper whose bees are being mysteriously devastated and girl with whom he falls in love.
