Learn about the internal workings of the 9-1-1 emergency dispatch center at the 9-1-1 Citizen’s Academy.
The one-day class will be held at the Regional Communications Center, 3511 N.E. Second St. in Renton, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 27. Space is limited; turn in applications by Sept. 24.
Learn about the role 9-1-1 communications specialists play in the public safety system and prepare in case you ever need to call 9-1-1.
The class includes the history of 9-1-1 and how citizens can help 9-1-1 help them. A tour of the King County Sheriff’s Office 9-1-1 Center is included; optional “plug-in” time will be offered to attendees on follow-up dates for those interested.
The class is open to anyone 18 or older with no felony convictions. You must live or work in King County.
