Newcastle Elementary School second graders Hannah Wand and Karina Fluegge have teamed up to enter the Cartwheels for a Cause video contest in hopes of winning the grand prize of $5,000.
Inspired by their first grade teacher, Katie Tinnea, the girls created a short video in which they do cartwheels while reciting important facts about colon cancer.
The makers of the video that garners the most votes will receive a $5,000 donation to the cause of their choice, plus a personal prize of $1,000. If Hannah and Karina win, they plan on donating the $5,000 to the Colon Cancer Coalition, and giving the $1,000 award to Tinnea’s family.
To support Hannah and Karina’s entry, go to www.veritymom.com/2013-cartwheel-for-a-cause, and vote for video No. 7, by Stina Fluegge. Voting ends at 5 p.m. March 11.
