Council could select city manager Monday

The Golf Club at Newcastle, 15500 Six Penny Lane, will host a public reception with its final four city manager candidates from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Wooly Toad Bar.
The City Council and an 11-member citizen panel will interview the four candidates privately Monday morning at The Golf Club, and the City Council will hold a special meeting at 2:30 p.m. in the Muirfield Room, at which time it may select the new city manager.
The City Council and the citizen panel will interview the candidates for an hour each in separate rooms, and Payroll & Accounting Specialist Maria Lindberg will give each a tour of the city and introduce him to the city staff.
Select baseball team to host tryouts

The Cannons Baseball Club — a club of select baseball teams — will host tryouts for its 15-year-old and younger Micky Mantle teams from 4-6 p.m. Aug. 15, 21 and 22 at Liberty High School.
