I have an excellent idea for a way for the county to cut costs, at least it would be a start towards fiscal responsibility, and that is to cut salaries of the executive, the sheriff, the director of elections and other high level staff, including contractors, to $100,000 annually, a ways down from their present lofty salaries. 100K should be the maximum salary at least until 2016. King Co. council members should be able to get by on $90,000. See my website through link.

What a complete and utter waste of the Council's time. This was an attempt by certain Councilmembers to use the Council for their own personal political agenda. They can't, don't, speak for the citizens of Newcastle on an issue like this, nor should they try. This wasn't driven by citizens demanding a statement. Come on. Even people that are all starry eyed about the "new" Council have to see it for what it is. Political grandstanding that has nothing to do with Newcastle and everything to do with their personal political positions. And, John, you should remember how you used to rail against wasting the Council's time on resolutions like this when you were first on the Council.

O K! So what vital services have the council members cut to contribute to the necessary savings of King county so there is not a need for a tax increase to maintain essential services?

The Mayor and accomplices of the City of Newcastle make a statement to the County Council and all they accomplish is to show how myopic they are to the rest of the county! You righted some bad judgements when you came back into office, but you still work out of a rented metal building! Stay low and take care of this little corner of paradise, with our rented support systems, police and fire!
