Become a Newcastle Weed Warrior at Aug. 6 meeting

The Newcastle Weed Warriors host a community outreach meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at Bellevue Fire Station No. 9, 12412 Newcastle Way, to plan weed removal strategy for the route of the city’s inaugural 5K run.
Weed Warriors are “volunteers working with the city to reduce the negative impact of invasive and noxious weeds in Newcastle’s parks, trails and open spaces, and thus, improving the aesthetic and ?recreational quality of our public places,” according to the group’s Web site.
“Weed Warrior projects reflect the willingness of local citizens to be involved and take part in their community as environmental stewards.”
