Diamond Awards to honor top citizens

A record number of nominees were received for this year’s Diamond Awards, sponsored by the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce. The ceremony is from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Nov. 12 in the St. Andrews

 Ballroom of The Golf Club at Newcastle, 15500 Six Penny Lane. Cost is $25.

The award, now in its fifth year, honors individuals who have made a difference in the community. Awards are bestowed in business, education, youth and senior categories. There is also a mayor’s award. Nineteen individuals were   nominated this year, eclipsing last year’s record of 15.
