Enjoy movies under the stars at Lake Boren Park
Three children’s favorites are among the slate scheduled for the Moonlight Movies series at Lake Boren Park. The movies are shown on a large inflatable screen at the center of the park. The movies begin shortly after sundown.
On Aug. 1 is “Over the Hedge.” The 2006 computer-animated film is based on the characters the from United Media comic strip of the same name.
On Aug. 8 is “Monsters, Inc.” The animated feature from the creators of “Toy Story” depicts life behind the scenes of things that go bump in the night.
On Aug. 15 is “Ratatouille,” the story of a rat who loves to cook and gets his chance by teaming with the klutzy, human garbage boy in the kitchen of a fancy French restaurant.

Skyhawks sports programs offer a multisport course (soccer, basketball and baseball) from 9 a.m. – noon, July 7-25, at Lake Boren Park. The program is for ages 4 to 7. Skyhawks also offers a cheerleading course from 9 a.m. – noon, July 7-11, at the park for ages 6-12. Cost for both courses is $122. Call 800-804-3509.

Lake Heights YMCA Older Active Adult Program is at Newport Hills Community Church, 5833 119th Ave. S.E., Bellevue. Activities include community service projects, crafts, pinochle games and birthday bingo once a month, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sack lunches are available for $3. King County Library System’s Words on Wheels program needs volunteers to select and deliver library materials to homebound patrons. Training is provided.
